As the first Brother, it is my honor to dedicate this page to our Brothers who have passed on to Chapter Eternal. As we read through the names of those we knew, may we reflect upon their memories and the good times we shared. For those whose names may be unfamiliar, simply pause a moment and wish them rest. And before we close the page, we should remember that one day that our names, too, will be written here, and that we shall rejoice with one another in Paradise. In the Bonds, George Gaines
Listed below are the DKA Brothers who have joined Chapter Eternal. They are listed randomly. Please let me know if any information is incorrect or you know of a Brother I have not listed.
- Brother Jim Laird (one of the original 13 Brothers) Bond #9
- Remembrance of Brother Jim Laird written by Brother George Gaines:. Jim was a very special friend. Great sense of humor. Good looking dude and a ladies man. He married a beautiful woman, much younger than he, who rose to top level management with AT&T. They were a very happy and loving couple. Jim used to joke that he married a beautiful young woman who supported him lavishly! Not far from the truth. I believe his wife got transferred out to Wyoming where they lived. Jim taught high school history there and had articles published in the Journal of the Wyoming Historical Society. He grew up in Gulf Breeze and had a younger brother, Larry, who was a football star (running back) at PHS. Jim actually had a date with my wife before she and I met, and he used to tease me playfully about it, saying “I can’t believe she married you!” Last time I saw Jim was at a BBQ at his home in Gulf Breeze, along with Brother Bobby Bell. I never laughed so hard in all my life. Jim and I spoke by phone several times when he was in Wyoming. I still miss him. I can see and hear him in my mind, just like yesterday, and look forward to laughing with him again when I finally get to Chapter Eternal.
- Brother William Duane Sterzing #344 was active from 1980. Deceased in 1/20/2018 after a long battle with cancer. Duane’s obit HERE
- Brother Larry Jenkins passed in 2009
- Brother Ronald Goetsch
- Remembrance written by Brother Matt Mayes: Ron passed on in Oct. of ‘09 in Oak Ridge, TN at age 56. Ron is survived by his brother David and sister Michelle. Our brother Ron was a great guy that overcame a lot of obstacles growing up. He never complained or felt sorry for the cards life dealt him but was always the first one to double down when a tough job came up and was first to break out with a great crude joke to brighten the day for all within the range of his voice. He loved life, loose women and his friends.
